We praise thee, O Mother of God; we confess thee, Mary ever Virgin. Thou art the Spouse of the Eternel Father: the whole earth venerates thee. Thee all angels and archangels, thrones principalities serve. Thee all powers and all virtues of hevens and all dominations obey. Before thee all the angelic choirs, the cherubim and seraphim, exulting stand. With unceasing voice every creature proclaims thee: Holy, holy, holy, Mary Virgin Mother of God.
Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sights, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Crucifictus Est by Liz Knowels
I bring you my anger and my pain and beneath your feet I nail them to thee with the splinters of my hope
forgive me, for I have sinned love me, for I have nothing else.
The first steps...
The first steps for a serious Christian coming to faith is to build up a settled habit of Christian discipleship defined by mental prayer, meditation, the sacramental life, reformation of character and good works. The effect of mental prayer is two-fold. First , mental prayer causes us to direct our minds towards God, leading us to see how the whole of our existence can be brought into relationship with grace. Secondly, meditation, together with mental prayer, reorders our understanding of existence in terms of the revealed nature of God and his graciousness towards us. The Christian mind is formed around divine revelation, harnessing our intellectual abilities to the service of Christ and the pursuit of a philosophy of life arising out of faith.
